Round Potatoes (Gol Gol Aloo)
The term "gol gol aloo" comes from my mum and it refers to round potatoes, as they are cut into round shapes. Remember, they are not always round.
Ingredients
- 1/2 kg round potatoes, thinly sliced
- Onions, sliced
- 1 tsp of cumin seeds
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp ground red chillies
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Oil
Method

In a wok or large pan, heat some oil over low heat.

Add the sliced onions and cumin seeds to the wok and cook until the onions become tender.

Add salt, ground red chillies, and ground coriander to the onions and mix well.

Add the thinly sliced potatoes to the wok and stir until they are half-tender.

Add the chopped coriander leaves to the mixture and continue cooking.

Cover the wok with a lid and let the potatoes cook on low heat until they are fully cooked and tender.

Once the potatoes are cooked, remove the lid and give it a final stir.

Serve the dish with rice, salad, chapati or on its own.
